Gmail redesign could feature self-destructing emails

The report suggests that the new Gmail could come with a self-destructing email feature, similar to what is already offered by Protonmail. The Android and iOS clients both use Material Design, but the web client's interface hasn't been updated for years. This new version of Gmail is said to have several revamps like the ability to snooze emails and a Smart Replay feature on the Web interface besides having a cleaner look like the desktop Gmail application. Unless protection is offered against the incredibly simple process of taking a screenshot of any supposedly confidential mail, the whole feature might well be useless, and will simply protect against inbox searches post the expiry of the email. Obviously, this new function will be appreciated by a particular group of businesses and users. The mails will have a "confidential mode" lock icon barring recipients to forward their content, copy and paste, download or print them.

"You'll soon be able to send expiring emails". The new mode will also allow senders to restrict the recipient from copying, downloading, or even printing the email.

Google is also offering three brand new layouts for users to choose from. Recipients will then receive an e-mail that requires them to click a link and input their Google credentials to view the e-mail. The company did, however, confirm with The Verge that the update is being worked on. Also, there might be other tools available in the market using which a user can record the email that they have received. This feature which is gaining attention from all the big tech giants hasn't been left out by the Gmail team and is possibly ready to be pushed ahead to the users. The message behind the link disappears after some time, but this doesn't mean that the intermediate email also disappears.
