Garcia racks up record 13 strokes at par-five 15th

The 14-time Major champion has carded a one over par 73 to now lie five shots off the pace being set by American Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth.

Garcia, The Masters defending champion, at 2 over before his Costner moment before his score ballooned to 10 over after putting his fifth balls in the drink.

Sergio Garcia saw his Masters title challenge unravel in record-breaking fashion after firing five balls into the water on one of Augusta's most iconic holes.

His 13 matched the highest score in Masters history.

Day's second shot on the par-4 first hole bounced off a patron watching from under the trees and into his cup. I thought it was flawless, straight at the flag. And if it probably carries a foot less, it probably doesn't go off the green, but unfortunately I flew it on the ideal spot for it to come back.

'I felt like I hit a lot of good shots and unfortunately the ball just didn't want to stop. So it's just unfortunate, but that's what it is.

"I have to keep fighting and pushing because I feel like the game is there; I just have to play smart, aggressive golf".

He had a setback when he three-putted for bogey at No. 6 and couldn't save par from the back bunker at No. 7, but Singh got those two bogeys back when he drained a 36-foot birdie putt at No. 11 and two-putted for birdie at No. 13.
