Woods, 42, announced in a tweet that he plans to play in the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook, followed by the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill the following week. For the sake of comparison, in his last two truly healthy years (2012-13) Woods also played five tournaments prior to the Masters. The Valspar Championship is played on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Resort near Tampa.

Woods shot even par last week at PGA National to place solo 12th in the Honda Classic, by far his most promising tournament start since 2015.

Last week's performance by Woods was so encouraging that his odds to win the April 5-8 Masters dropped to 16-1, according to Westgate Las Vegas Superbook.

The 14-time Major champion is ineligible for the World Golf Championships (WGC) tournaments this week in Mexico or the Match Play later this month as they consist of the world's top 64 players.

Woods recorded excellent swing speed off the tee, hit the greens in regulation in a majority of the holes in the final round, and recorded a 361-yard drive at the Honda Classic.

"How high he can get, I don't know, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if he made a run". Body feels good. I just need to keep feeling good. "It's not easy to do and I was able to do most of the week".

"I don't think he's all the way there and all the way back".

Should he improve that form in the build-up to the US Masters, then Feherty says Woods will firmly be in the mix for a fifth US Masters title. "I told you guys at Torrey, (I'll) try and get everything situated for April and I feel like I'm right on track for that". He already had been set to play the Arnold Palmer Invitational leading to the Masters.
