After eight days of coverage of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, NBC TV viewing results - from all platforms - continue to post slightly lower numbers than in Sochi four years ago.

"I'm happy to say that for NBC's coverage of every Olympic Games since that time, NEP's support team of managers and engineering specialists has been an integral part of this successful, longstanding partnership".

NBC has said that it will sell more than $900 million in advertising on broadcast television, cable and digital platforms for the games. NBC has sold more than $900 million in ads so far and expects its telecast to be profitable.

ABC, CBS and Fox together averaged 9.5 million viewers Sunday night. NBC had set aside some advertising to give to advertisers in the event of weak ratings and the need to "make good" on audience promises.

The story reports that through February 11 NBC has averaged 9.569 million total viewers, vs. 9.385 million for CBS.

In the time that's passed since NBC came out on top at the close of the 2001-02 season, the network has faced its fair share of struggles. (It's just 20.9 million if you look at the broadcast network alone.) Compared to Sochi in 2014, viewership for the games are down just 6 percent.

The U.S. contingent is high off a win from the preliminary round series against Russian Federation, as they routed the latter at a lopsided 5-0 record before this highlight match. Even without the Super Bowl episode, "This Is Us" to date is up 13% in total viewers (16.4 million) over the same point in its first season, and up 11% in adults 18-49 (5.0/18), according to Nielsen's live-plus-7 ratings.
