The first match goes live on January 10 at 4PM PST when the San Francisco Shock meet the Los Angeles Valiant. Total bonuses for Overwatch League teams in the first season will be $3.5 million (approximately Rs. 22 crore), with a minimum of $1 million (around Rs. 6 crore) going to the season one champion. The core addition of the patch is an entirely new menu accessed via the Overwatch League button on the main screen.

Esports Insider says: It nearly feels typical of the Overwatch League that we've got to the day before the first match before having any idea of where we can watch it.

The tab will also include the new Overwatch League skins.

On one hand, Overwatch players have the ability to purchase the skins that they want to support their teams and not be impeded by the RNG of a lootbox. 100 League tokens buys you a skin.

"Our fans love to engage with content on Twitch, and we wanted to drive significant viewership of the Overwatch League in its inaugural season and beyond", said Armin Zerza, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment, in a statement. The deal, announced earlier today, is believed to be the biggest exclusive distribution deal in esports history.

The deal will also feature a number of in-game item exclusives and rewards for fans using the Twitch platform. In annual terms, the deal is comparable to the seven-year, $300M deal struck in late '16 by League of Legends publisher Riot Games with BAMTech.

Activision Blizzard said the deal was great "for our growing global fan base".

"The Overwatch League is making a major impact on esports by reshaping the industry with city-based teams", said Kevin Lin, COO of Twitch. "We look forward to offering their pioneering style of league play to a large and passionate fanbase that will be able to bond over not only their favorite plays, but hometown pride". Twelve teams, comprising of professional Overwatch players from all across the world, will compete for the first Overwatch League championship title, where finals will be held in July 2018. The first season gets underway tomorrow.
