No West Ham interest, says Wenger

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is close to completing a move to Valencia, although the clubs are still negotiating the terms of the deal, sources have told ESPN FC.

Coquelin, who has previously spent time on loan at Lorient and Freiburg, was left out of Wenger's 18-man squad for their FA Cup third round defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Crystal Palace and West Ham have also been linked although Wenger insisted on Tuesday that he has received no contact from the latter. The addition of Coquelin, a talented defensive midfielder, therefore, would definitely help shore up their back line. In the race to sign Coquelin, Valencia are not alone.

Coquelin joined from French side Stade Lavallois in 2008 and went on to make 159 appearances for Arsenal.

The Hammers, under David Moyes, look decent after an early scare of dropping into the relegation zone. Instead of looking at others, those two guys that you should have signed up a long time ago are not secured yet'.

Coquelin has been in and out of the Arsenal first team due to his injuries.

Despite having a year and half to go on his current contract, the former Basel star, with 4 Swiss Super League titles to his name, could be open to an exit this month, with his spot in Egypt's starting XI ahead of Russian Federation 2018 World Cup very much under threat.
