Hornets' Kemba Walker says he would be 'pretty upset' if he's traded

This season, he's averaging 21.7 points and 5.8 assists per game. He will simply earn a permanent spot in the Hornets' Hall of Shame as "The Guy Who Traded Kemba", which will become the top line on a résumé that already includes Cho starring as "The Guy Who Wanted Lance Stephenson" and "The Guy Who Traded for Miles Plumlee".

Perhaps New Orleans would've considered trading their best player if they struggled like Charlotte has, but the Pelicans are holding their own in the West.

Kemba is second on the Hornets all-time scoring list and he leads the team this season in points, minutes and assists per game.

Walker was caught off guard by the trade rumor as well and said he'd be "pretty upset" if it actually happened.

The Hornets had made available their entire starting lineup, including forward Nicolas Batum (four years, $100 million), center Dwight Howard (two years, $47 million), forward Marvin Williams (three years, $42 million) and wing Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (three years, $39 million).

While I am sure that any Laker fan would be overjoyed to acquire Walker, it still would leave a lot unanswered for the Lakers. I don't think so RIGHT NOW. "I've never been in that situation". Those would be hard for any team to take on, even if they were getting Kemba in the exchange. Everyone will want Walker, but no one is going to be eager to take on one of those contracts to get him. I'd love to see what kind of havoc a backcourt of Kemba and Donovan Mitchell could wreak on opposing teams. Charlotte drafted Walker as the ninth pick in the 2011 NBA Draft but had little success in the postseason with Walker on the roster. The No.7 seed Pelicans are only three games in the loss column behind the No.4 seed Minnesota Timberwolves, and they've got a real chance to win a playoff series with Davis and DeMarcus Cousins in the frontcourt.

Here are our favourite hypothetical Kemba Walker trade, plus some more viable trade ideas as we head toward the NBA's February 8 deadline. Especially if Ntilikina being dealt can land an all-star talent like Walker, who has stepped up in big moments at Madison Square Garden before and gives the Knicks the stellar point guard they've been coveting for what seems like decades.
