Screen Actors Guild Awards and Golden Globes have been handed out, Oscar voters' pencils are down, and the Academy Awards race is about to get very real. Their annual SAG Awards is the only awards ceremony where actors are judged exclusively by their own peers.

Black comedy "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" won three prizes January 21 at the Screen Actors Guild awards, in a ceremony that paid tribute to women in the wake of a sexual misconduct scandal.

With many prominent men in Hollywood facing accusations of sexual misconduct, virtually every aspect of the awards season has been impacted by the scandal - from questions on the red carpet to anxiety over who might be nominated, attend or win any given ceremony. In September, he also picked up an Emmy for his role, making him the first Black actor to win the category since 1998, when Andre Braugher took the award for his role on Homicide: Life on the Street.

The big victor in the motion picture categories was, of course, "Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri" which took home Outstanding Performance by a Cast with Frances McDormand landing the Lead Actress prize and Sam Rockwell getting Outstanding Supporting Actor.

"This Is Us" star Sterling K. Brown won the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series, becoming the first black actor with this achievement since the Screen Actors Guild started handing out awards in 1995.

Octogenarian American actor and narrator, Morgan Freeman was also awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Awards at the event.

McDormand won for outstanding female actor, and the "Three Billboards" cast took home the top prize for ensemble performance in a theatrical motion picture. 'It works from the back.
