Skirball Fire Map: Current Location of the Wildfire

What's being called the "Skirball" fire for its location near the Skirball Cultural Center is covering 150 acres in Los Angeles-a separate blaze from the "Thomas" fire that broke out near Ventura earlier this week and has burned over 65,000 acres so far, The New York Times reported.

The 405 is closed in both directions from the 10 to the 101.

As an inferno rages in the Los Angeles area, photos and video posted to the internet are making the predawn commute look downright apocalyptic. The Pomona Fairplex and the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster also opened stables for evacuated animals.

All Santa Monica-Malibu Los Angeles Unified School District schools will be closed Wednesday due to the fire. Needless to say, the Skirball Center will remain closed as well.
