Israel hit Hamas posts in Gaza Strip in response to missile attacks

An Israeli air strike killed two Palestinians riding a motorcycle in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, local residents said.

"The IDF holds the Hamas terror organization accountable for this hostile act originating in the Gaza Strip", said the IDF following its response.

Davidi said he expects Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. -Gen.

On Monday night, the Israeli military said it hit Hamas positions after intercepting rockets coming from the blockaded enclave.

Earlier on Wednesday night, four rockets were fired from Gaza at southern Israel.

According to the press release, in response to rocket attacks on Israeli territory, a tank and air force aircraft attacked Hamas military posts in the northern Gaza Strip. The IDF denied any responsibility for the incident. According to Israeli assessments, these rockets are not being launched by Hamas, but by other terrorist groups in the Strip.

Several clashes have broken out in the week since US President Donald Trump announced the he was recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a decision that angered Palestinians because they similarly claim the holy city as their capital.

The IDF reported that it tracked progress of the tunnel even before it extended into Israeli territory utilizing "unique tools combined with advanced technology, intelligence and operational capabilities".
