Putin Says He Will Talk To Trump Following Assad Meeting

"Two years ago, when I met with President Putin in Moscow, the fighting was just beginning".

"Syria is striving in the fight against terrorist (s). the Syrian people are going through very hard trials and are gradually approaching the final, unavoidable rout of terrorists", Putin said according to Russian news agency Sputnik.

Russian Federation prepares to scale down its military presence in the country's civil war, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

The Russian president also informed his United States counterpart of the forthcoming meeting between the leaders of Russia, Iran and Turkey aimed at finding ways to further normalize the situation in Syria while contributing to the political process in the Middle Eastern country.

It was the second time Mr Assad has travelled to Russian Federation to meet with Mr Putin in the course of the country's six-year civil war.

The civil war, which began in March 2011, has killed about 400,000 people and left millions...

The meeting of presidents of Turkey, Russia and Iran is important for the future of the region, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, the country's media reported November 21.

The US and Russian Federation also have wildly different visions for the future of Syria, with the two countries staking out different positions on Assad's future in the country and the involvement of rebel factions. "We should admit that the operation allowed to move forward the political settlement in Syria", he noted. "Many areas in Syria have been liberated from terrorist (s), and civilians who were forced to leave those areas have been able to return", Assad said according to state media.
