Greta Gerwig has responded to Lady Bird becoming the best reviewed film in Rotten Tomatoes history. Reviews come from major newspapers as well as online sites dedicated to film. According to Rotten Tomatoes, "Toy Story 2" - released in 1999 - set the record with 163 Fresh Reviews. As reported by IndieWire, the film is certified 100% fresh with 170 critic reviews.

The list of movies that have achieved a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes is a vast one, ranging from Citizen Kane to the animated Batman vs. Robin.

According to critics, Lady Bird is a flawless movie.

The film is Greta Gerwig's directorial debut, which makes the Rotten Tomatoes' feat all the more impressive. Rotten Tomatoes wields a power over audience perception of movies that is unprecedented, and while many a study has been conducted to prove that this doesn't extend to box office impact, that's likely not the case.

"This is completely fantastic and so incredibly appreciated by the entire team that made Lady Bird", Gerwig said exclusively to RT, "We put our heart and souls into this movie, and the last step of this deeply collaborative art form of filmmaking is giving the film to the audience and the film critics".

Haters have, of course, invaded the "Audience" section of the site, with only 88 percent of plebeian viewers claiming to have enjoyed Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf's layered mother-daughter sparring.

The actor-director had previously shared the letters she wrote to Justin Timberlake, Alanis Morissette and Dave Matthews to gain permission to use their music in the film, which stars Saoirse Ronan as the titular Lady Bird. Lady Bird is an independent critical darling and an authentic comic crowd-pleaser that truly earns its must-see status.
