Two times champions and favourite India stormed the final of the eight-nation Asia Cup Hockey beating Pakistan by 4-0 goals at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here on Saturday. It was Gurjant Singh in the 33rd minute followed by a splendid goal by SV Sunil brilliantly-assisted by Gurjant Singh who worked in tandem to score India's fifth goal.

A win against Pakistan would give India seven points and assure a place in the Asia Cup final.

Following their tough 1-1 draw against South Korea, India knew only a win could have kept them in the running for an Asia Cup final berth.

The second quarter saw both the teams battle it out in the midfield as they looked to establish their authority in the match.

The first two quarters of the match went scoreless, but India broke Pakistan's defense in the third quarter courtesy a goal by Satbir Singh (39 minutes).

India will take on the victor of Malaysia and South Korea in the final on Sunday. The tempo of the match increased towards the end of the first quarter but the teams ended the first quarter goal-less. The Men in Blue once again came close to scoring when Harmanpreet was denied by crossbar after India won their second penalty corner.

MALAYSIA will play the 2019 AFC Asian Cup group B qualifying matches against North Korea at a neutral venue next month, said the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

However, in the 60th minute, Sardar Singh pulled off a spectacular reverse shot as India finished the match 6-2. India will like to continue with their winning momentum while Pakistan would try to change the course of wind in their favour as another game loss will be game over for the Green Brigade. But India also won a penalty corner in the 14th minute which was scuffed by drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh.

Gurjant completed India's big win in the 57th minute after sweeping home a right cross from Akashdeep Singh.
