Holders Ghana won the WAFU Cup of Nations for a second time after thumping rivals Nigeria 4-1 in a one-sided final at the magnificent Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Cape Coast on Sunday.

Two goals from Stephen Sarfo, a goal each from Kwame Kizito and Winful Cobbinah sealed the victory.

"We are motivated enough to win this cup, after failing to qualify for the CHAN tournament, we would like to use this trophy to appease Ghanaians".

Rabiu Ali scored a stunning free kick late in the game, but it could not change anything as the Super Eagles settled for second place.

Meanwhile, Ezenwa, who did not concede a goal until the final, was deservedly awarded the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, while Ghana's Isaac Twum was crowned the Best player of the tournament.

With the clock ticking for the end of the first half, Stephen Sarfo fired Ghana in front with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box.

"We have to forge ahead and put this behind us.We have done very well and this (WAFU) is part of our preparations for CHAN next year".

Having earlier defeated the Black Stars 2-0 their last group game, the Nigerians had been expected to give the hosts a good run for their money but close contest but it turned out to be a rout as the stars run away as 4-1 victors.

"That brought a bit of pressure onto the team but when we re-grouped, we made sure that we spoke among ourselves and made it a point that we are coming to this tournament to at least appease for the loss".
