Finally, Patty Jenkins has officially signed on to direct Wonder Woman 2. In exchange, she will become the highest-paid female director ever.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins will co-write, direct and producer DC's Wonder Woman sequel.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is springing back into action for a sequel to the summer blockbuster, the Los Angeles Times has confirmed. Besides the "Wonder Women" sequel, Jenkins is developing a TNT TV series with Pine.

Variety first reported Patty Jenkins' deal to return for Wonder Woman 2. Lead star Gal Gadot was already wrapped up and now the other major piece of the puzzle is in place with Jenkins signing on to direct the film. Gal Gadot, who also appeared as Wonder Woman in 'Batman vs Superman" will reprise the role in upcoming DCEU film "Justice League' which is slated to be released on November 16 this year.

The first Wonder Woman, released in July, was an instant success, both critically and commercially.

Gadot was already signed for the sequel, which is due December 13, 2019.

While the news was expected following the rave reviews to Wonder Woman, it is Jenkins' pay packet that has left many agape.

It would seem that the film's impressive box office performance strengthened her position and made sure she was going to be rewarded handsomely for the follow-up.

The movie-maker revealed she was expecting a "mixed bag" from fans and critics, but the reaction to the superhero film has been overwhelmingly positive. There is a growing awareness that women get fewer chances to direct high-profile films than men, even after they've proven themselves in the television field or with a feature film hit.
