And what carnage did this group of hackers do exactly? In 2016, they hacked the Twitter accounts of Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, Pokémon Go creator John Hanke, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, whose Pinterest was also hacked.

Barcelona have confirmed their social media accounts were hacked on Wednesday following a false announcement of Angel Di Maria's signing.

For an hour, the club kept deleting the tweets while "OurMine" kept re-posting them. We are working to fix it as soon as possible.

And the group were not finished there as they issued a call to action to get the incident trending. The club posted: "Tonight our accounts have been hacked".

Barcelona are seeking at least 8.5 million euros ($10 million) from Neymar for breach of contract, the club said on Tuesday following his world record 222-million-euro move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier this week, the group hacked PlayStation's official Twitter and Facebook page claiming that the PlayStation Network database had been leaked.

After announcing their intention to sue former player Neymar, only for the player to say he would counter-sue, their social accounts were hacked.

IBTimes UK has reached out to OurMine for comment.
