Emergency responders gather round the crash of a Cessna 310 aircraft on Interstate 405.

"The fact that a plane was able to land and only strike a single vehicle is extraordinary", Kurtz said. "Spun around, had a passenger in there, saw flames all around us, thought at first it was just a big rig that hit us", he said. ABC7 viewer Jose Quinteros captured the crash on video. The freeway is closed in both directions near the transit hub.

The Cessna 310 aircraft landed on the freeway short of the runway at 9:35 a.m, the Santa Ana airport tweeted. Two people were injured in the small plane crash.

Drivers stopped to help the people out of the plane. The airfield is closed to arrival.
