Three doctors hurt in NY hospital shooting, gunman dead

Reports indicate that there has been a shooting at a New York City-area hospital. Local media reported that the suspect is believed to be a former employee who was seen wearing a doctor's coat and was possibly armed with a rifle.

Police sources suggest that at least four people have been shot. There was no word on their conditions.

Shots rang out on the 16th floor of Bronx Lebanon Hospital in Morris Heights about 2:45 p.m.

According to the Associated Press, at least one person has died.

Multiple people were shot, though the extent of their injuries was not immediately known, according to police. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

The NYPD says the gunman at a New York City hospital is dead.

The incident happened Friday at 3:30 ET at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in NY.

Hospitals have been the site of active shooting situations in recent years.

And in Florida last July, a man entered a patient's room and opened fire, killing an elderly female patient and a female hospital worker, police said.
