Representatives urge Secretary Tillerson not to close cybersecurity office

Tillerson, the sources said, viewed Trump's comments as unprofessional. Reporters only learned of his absence after inquiring why his schedule for the upcoming week was blank.

"He's just taking a little time off".

"He's had a lot of work".

"So, he's entitled to take a few days himself".

Upon making the announcement, the department's spokeswoman, Heather Nauert, refused to directly address the rumors and only told reporters that the decision-making process at the White House involved many advisers "who may not agree on different situations". Trump also has sided with Saudi Arabia in its feud with Qatar even as Tillerson has sought to mediate the dispute between the two United States allies. While Tillerson worked to mediate the dispute, Trump took to Twitter, slamming Qatar and seemingly contradicting his secretary of state's overtures.

Washington has been buzzing with rumors since the beginning of the week that Tillerson will soon leave his post due to frustration with Trump and others in the White House.

"He does, however, serve at the pleasure of the president just as any Cabinet official would", she added.
