The journalist, who works for AS, Cadena SER and El Chiringuito TV, recently tweeted that Chelsea want to lure Aguero away from the Citizens, and went on to claim that Guardiola has already agreed to let the player leave. "It has never been in doubt".

Speaking earlier this summer, the latter said: "I've read a lot of the speculation on this and it's ridiculous". The Blues are very much in the market, looking to sign a world-class striker after Antonio Conte informed Diego Costa that the Spanish striker is not in his plans for next season.

Following their failure to sign Romelu Lukaku, the Blues have stepped up their pursuit for other targets including Alvaro Morata and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but Aguero has propped up the shortlist due to his valuable top-flight experience.

Sergio Aguero speaks to Manchester city, July 2011.

The Argentina striker flew to the United States on Monday afternoon as part of City's pre-season tour, but his City future has been in doubt ever since he was usurped as first choice striker by Gabriel Jesus in January.

Currently, Aguero is 9/4 to move to Stamford Bridge following today's news, although he is still odds on to be a Manchester City player at the end of the window (1/3). The Italian club are also the favourites to sign Belotti at 8/15, with Chelsea priced at 7/2. We wonder how many fans were aware of his fondness for Liverpool though, or his stated wish to play for the Reds, when the Manchester City striker was establishing his reputation at Argentinian club, Independiente?
