China and Russia should strengthen communication and promote the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to enhance its influence in the global and regional affairs, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday while meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ficci's designation came into force following the accession ceremony at the SCO Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, where India formally moved from observer status to full membership, the industry body said on Friday. SCO has Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as members.

He assured that China will contribute with an additional 10 million yuan ($1.47 million USD) to the SCO Secretariat in order to facilitate its work. He said concerted efforts are required to find a solution to recruitment, training and financing of terrorists.

In a rare snub to all-weather ally Pakistan, Chinese President Xi Jinping skipped a customary meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the SCO summit in Astana after the murder of two Chinese teachers in Balochistan.

"Prime Minister Modi's address was impressive as Pakistan's true face needs to be flashed in front of the world".

Describing terrorists as the chief violators of human rights and values, Modi said: " We have full faith that the SCO would give a new push to our efforts in the fight against terrorism". "I want to thank all members for their support", Modi announced, adding India's relationship with the SCO countries were historical.

The member states reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the Treaty on Long-Term Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation of the SCO Member States and pledged to resolve border disputes through friendly consultations, it said. "If Russia uses its strength and convince China, then the positive result will be seen in terms of terrorism", Sinha asserted. The press release stated that the leaders had praised "the outcomes of the Belt and Road International Cooperation Forum" held in Beijing on May 14 and May 15.

The two heads of state also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and on the Korean Peninsula, as well as on other worldwide and regional issues.
