Instagram Stories crushes Snapchat with 250 million daily active users

The service did well in the beginning, although with Instagram, and Facebook and everyone else copying it as well growth slowed and it now has around 166 million daily active users.

Snap said its platform has 166 million daily active users during its last earnings report in May. "Today on the platform, we not only have 250 million people using it, but actually a third (of the most viewed stories) are businesses using Instagram Stories and one million are advertisers".

Both Instagram Stories and Snapchat serve as disappearing message platforms that use photos to connect users. That's a meaningful chunk of the 700 million monthly active users (MAUs) that the broader photo/video sharing service now boasts.

And when watching your own replay, the number of viewers will include everyone who saw it live and in stories. If you said or did something embarrassing in the video, no worries: just press "Discard" and your video will disappear from the app, just like normal. By January, the feature had 150 million daily active users. In addition to releasing the news about daily users, Instagram introduced an update to the app as well. Instagram says that these new features are being rolled out as part of version 10.26 on iOS and Android, so if you're up to date, you should see the option add replays to your Stories appear imminently.
