Dani Alves left Juventus

Alves helped Juventus win the Italian league and cup double last season and played as they lost 4-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus is confident that manager Pep Guardiola will be able to convince Dani Alves to join City.

The 34-year-old Brazilian right-back confirmed his departure via his Instagram account.

He was linked with a move to City but their capture of Alves may end that interest and Chelsea may decide to switch targets, although at £40m he is a far more expensive option.

Xavi sees no reason why Alves can not spend "more years" at the very highest level, as he closes on a move to England.

He made a total of 33 appearances for the club.

He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "We had the deal - finally, after enormous complications - tied up for Dani Alves and then the decision was should we buy two players or should we spend all of that on a full-back?" Never had ever the intention, just I have a way of living things spontaneously that few understand.

I feel I should say thank you to Mr Marotta for the opportunity he gave me, he's a great professional who loves his job like few others do.

A statement on the official club website said: 'Juventus Football Club is to part company with Dani Alves after agreeing to a termination of the player's contract. I leave it up to you to judge what I have done and worked for.

"I LOVE FOOTBALL and money will never be enough to keep me in one place".
