Gonzalez lost his bids for a ideal game, no hitter and shutout in the span of three batters to lead off the seventh inning, but that didn't take away much from how good he was in a 7-3 win for the South Siders at Guaranteed Rate Field.

"The first two innings I was good because I threw all heaters", he said.

Chicago White Sox's starting pitcher Tyler Danish delivers during the first inning of a baseball game against the Detroit Tigers Saturday, May 27, 2017, in Chicago. That streak of 18 straight hitters retired to start the game was the longest by a White Sox starter since Chris Sale sat down the first 19 he faced back in May 2013.

The White Sox went ahead in the fifth when Yolmer Sanchez grounded into a double play with the bases loaded after an infield single, a single and a bunt single.

"It was getting quiet (in the dugout)", Gonzalez said with a grin. "I'm just waiting for that opportunity to happen with (Robert)". "We can't let this thing linger and linger".

Chicago then stretched the lead to 5-0 in the fourth following a 30-minute rain delay in the top of the inning.

Alex Avila followed with a single to right-center field before Miguel Cabrera also singled to right center to end the shutout. Romine picked up an RBI triple against Miguel Gonzalez in the eighth inning.

ASTROS 5, ORIOLES 2: At Houston, Dallas Keuchel had a solid performance in his return from the disabled list, and George Springer hit a two-run homer to help Houston win.

Gonzalez struggled in his last five starts after he began the season 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA in four starts.

"I feel my like my fastball's good, my curveball's good, my change-up's good".

It was a big win, everyone agreed, because it got rid of the sour taste that had stayed in the team's mouth, through bad play and awful scheduling.

Martinez hit his fourth home run, a solo shot in the ninth, after the Tigers totaled two runs in their previous two games. "We think he has the ability to remain in centerfield and if for whatever reason he doesn't wind up in the big leagues at centerfield, he certainly has enough offensive prowess to contribute strongly on either corner". "And it really relaxes them". They didn't see any of my off-speed stuff.

The White Sox took three of four from the Tigers in this weekend series that featured a doubleheader split Saturday.

Gonzalez is 2-5 with a 7.65 ERA in 10 career appearances (eight starts) against Detroit.

During one of Hahn's trips to the Dominican Republic to scout Robert, he brought a virtual-reality presentation of Guaranteed Rate Field and the clubhouse narrated by manager Rick Renteria, along with video testimonials from Moncada, Abreu, and relief pitcher Michael Ynoa, a Dominican who shares a trainer with Robert. "It's just their character, the way they're put together".
