Variety reports that Megyn Kelly's new NBC morning show will take over Today's 9am slot starting this fall, which will put her up against Live with Kelly Ripa and her just-announced new co-host Ryan Seacrest on ABC. The show is produced by WABC-TV in NY and executive produced by Michael Gelman, Ripa, and Seacrest. Seacrest, 42, is a busy show-biz presence, hosting ABC's New Year's Eve show, red-carpet coverage on E!

Seacrest has joined almost a year after Ripa's former co-host, Michael Strahan, left the Disney-distributed show for an anchor slot on ABC's "Good Morning America". While it is the second most watched daytime syndicated talk show, after Dr. Phil, viewership dropped 18% this past season to an average of 3.2 million viewers, the Los Angeles Times reported.

On Sunday, Ripa teased the big announcement, tweeting a video of herself sipping from a Live! with Kelly mug with a question mark drawn on it, saying, "Tune in tomorrow". He will continue to work on his radio shows through iHeartRadio. The way that departure was handled so annoyed Ripa that she skipped the show for two days in protest.

Live could use a ratings boost.

Seacrest and Ripa moved quickly into the rhythms of the morning show, with a freewheeling discussion that included Ripa's revelation of when she last had sex.

Numerous celebrities have filled in as co-hosts with Ripa over the past year, including Jerry O'Connell, Fred Savage and Andy Cohen.

"Nice to see you, partner", Seacrest said as he walked onto the NY set of the show made famous by Regis Philbin. Ryan is a close friend and his star shines as brightly off camera as it does on. "Plainly said, everyone loves him, and so will our daily viewers". He will begin every week in NY, as he did this Monday welcoming stars like Chris Pratt from "Guardians of the Galaxy".
