Rain washes out NCAA women's golf play

Alabama, which claimed the NCAA title in 2013 and 2014, will make its eighth NCAA National Championship appearance in the last 10 years.

The Illini started the final round at the West Lafayette Regional five shots back of fifth place, the cutoff to advance to the NCAA Championships.

"This golf course would be a lot of fun to play on a nice day", head coach Mic Potter said after the round. "Not everything went his way and he simply moved on through adversity, kept his poise and rebounded with some great golf shots". Davis led the field in par-5 scoring at 7-under and finished fourth in overall birdies with 13.

"The opportunity to play in the National Championship is something I thought I'd only dream of", Wallace said. "After a tough Big Ten, he just prepared and was super determined to compete at a higher level in the NCAA Regional". His 67 paced the Rebels and helped secure a top-five finish at the NCAA Austin Regional. Freshman Giovanni Tadiotto finished with a final round 74, while Junior Dylan Meyer and Sophomore Edoardo Lipparelli fired a pair of final round 75's to close out the scoring for IL. Seiple finished 4-over on the tournament and tied for 25th place.

Miller finished with a three-stroke lead over four golfers tied at 4-under.

The remaining drama surrounded who would capture the fifth and final spot in the championship, and who would be the lone individual from a non-qualifying team to advance.

Above / Naperville Country Club, located at 25W570 Chicago Avenue, has been set to facilitate 2017 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Golf Championship practice rounds prior to the championship at Rich Harvest Farms at the end of May.

The women's championship runs Friday through Wednesday at Rich Harvest.
