Rumors had swirled for months about whether Melania and Barron would remain in NY permanently after it was confirmed that they would continue to live in Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue hotel for at least the remainder school year.

First lady Melania Trump has announced that her son, Barron, will attend a private Episcopal school in Maryland beginning this fall.

"It is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence", she said in a statement.

The Trumps had planned to announce this summer that Barron would be attending the school, but chose to come forward earlier after parents began asking questions about security when rumors surfaced, the newspaper said. Mrs. Trump's announcement came in response to school leaders' decision to announce the news in a letter to parents on Monday.

President Donald Trump's son Barron will be moving to Washington soon.

Trump will be the first presidential child to attend St. Andrews.

"Happy Mother's Day!" she wrote.

President Jimmy Carter is the only recent president to send his child, daughter Amy, to District of Columbia public schools.

"Our inclusive culture and values are at the heart of why our faculty and staff, alumni, and current families love and take pride in St. Andrew's". "St. Andrews respects family privacy and will not comment on whether a student has sought enrollment", said a representative from the school.

St. Andrew's has about 580 students, according to its website, making it a medium- to large-sized private school for the area. In 2011, the school instituted an innovative research center called the Center for Transformative Teaching & Learning, or CTTL.

The 11-year-old Trump will enroll as a sixth grader at the college preparatory school, which is just over a half hour drive from the White House. Sasha Obama is a sophomore. Malia graduated from there last year and is taking a gap year before heading to Harvard. It's the same school Chelsea Clinton attended.

Former first daughter Malia Obama graduated from Sidwell Friends School in Northwest Washington past year.

President Gerald Ford's daughter, Susan, went to Holton-Arms School in Bethesda. Trump's youngest daughter and his only child with second wife Marla Maples will attend law school at Georgetown Law in the fall.
