Swans in trouble after Mawson mistake gives Watford 1-0 win

- The Swans have failed to score in four of their last five Premier League games (one goal scored in the other), after finding the back of the net in seven in a row.

Ideally, Swansea should have obtained three points against Middlesbrough as well as getting something from fellow strugglers West Ham and Bournemouth, but the fact is they never. They understand what is at stake, I am not sure a rollicking from me would change that.

For Clement the manner of the West Ham defeat was particularly galling but he insisted both he and his team will learn from their mistakes as they focus on the last six games of the campaign. It is an absolute must-win against Stoke next Saturday.

The third-bottom Swans' manager believes Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fernando Llorente and Federico Fernandez can help move the Welsh club away from the drop zone - starting at Watford on Saturday.

Clement was less than impressed with Mawson's error and revealed the 23-year-old was feeling the pain of costing his side at least a share of the spoils at Vicarage Road.

Despite improving upon their lacklustre display at West Ham last week, however, Paul Clement's men were ultimately unable to avoid a sixth successive away defeat and their 13th on the road this season. As for the teams just above us, Crystal Palace are gathering some momentum, but you can lose it quickly. "With five games to go we have to find some confidence and find that extra bit of quality, keep going and going".

Soon after the restart, Sigurdsson got a strike away to signal Swansea's intent for the second half, but Watford were delivering another solid performance under Mazzarri and Janmaat nearly made it two with a powerful effort from distance. Until the maths and the numbers say we are not safe then we are not safe. I always say that we try to reach the maximum we can. "We have to play to our strengths and he is one of them". "With all that has happened this season, to have 40 pints with six games to go is a good record". We will fight in all games like we did today.

"But the players know we have to be better than that, and we have reminded them they are capable of a lot better than that".
