Holly Holm Wants Immediate Rematch With Germaine De Randamie

Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino is the 145-pound elephant in the UFC's newest room.

Germaine de Randamie is the first UFC female featherweight champion.

Luckily for Holm, she won't be in the unemployment line anytime soon. The elephant demands nothing less.

Do YOU want to write for GiveMeSport? De Randamie, a decorated kickboxer who once put together 37 straight wins in the ring, has tasted defeat just once since 2011, against current bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. I truly respect her. You have to fight. "[Megan Anderson], you ready to unify the [Invicta FC] belts?!"

Now, coping with the huge backlash to her victory, De Randamie has released a statement on the controversial win while also announcing that she would like to grant Holly Holm a rematch in her next fight.

"I feel like the ref from NY shouldn't be reffing a main event fight", he said on Fox Sports.

That's mainly because it would make Rousey, the UFC's former golden girl, look even worse for getting humiliated by someone who was canned from the promotion just three fights later. Every observer assumed the victor was keeping the belt safe and comfortable until Cyborg could come and get it.

In her post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, De Randamie insisted that she was simply caught up in the moment and wasn't a dirty fighter.

The same can't be said for Anderson Silva vs. Derek Brunson in the co-headliner, as Silva won a unanimous decision in a fight where most observers gave the nod to Brunson. "It's like I should have kept fighting, too". Yet it's the realities of the financial picture of the UFC which prompted them to add another division despite holding the contractual rights to few fighters capable of competing there. "We're going to see a lot of them get better because they're going to know that they have an opportunity that they can grasp on to". UFC fans will be anxiously awaiting her next opponent, but de Randamie will have to be more careful to stop when the referee tells her to in her next match.

That wasn't lost on Cyborg.

Cyborg seemed to take the news in stride, offering to fight another 145lb "world champion" instead. She's used to it.

The UFC along the way refused to create a weight class to accommodate Justino because they said that there wasn't enough talent to fill its ranks. I know I'm going to face the best Holly Holm, and I wouldn't want anything less, but the best Holly Holm.

In the meantime, Cyborg is awaiting a verdict from the United States Anti-Doping Agency regarding a recent positive drug test. Cyborg has asserted she has a legitimate medical need for the drug and that it was prescribed to her by a physician. Her lean, strong frame allowed her to avoid all nine of Holm's takedown attempts.

As the first champion in the featherweight division, de Randamie will likely have plenty of competitors gunning for her new title. Referee Todd Anderson didn't even issue a warning to Germaine for the late hits and it turned out that they were some of the hardest ones that she would land on Holm the entire night. But I love to brawl, I love to fight. It's going to be my time.
